Making costumes - it's always playtime for me. There is nothing serious about them, it's all fun... no color too bold, no style too risque, no idea too 'out there' because it all falls under the category of make believe. It's a moment when I can help transform someone into a character, an escape from the normal of every day life. A chance to play dress up no matter the age.I just finished up a Snow White costume requested by a teen who needed it to play a princess at the dance studio in town. The parents sent love notes to the young dancers and they got to pick which princess would read their note to them. The princesses were also available for pictures. I was thrilled to play a part in her transformation, and what a transformation it was.
I can get a good idea of what a costume will look like on my dress form but nothing compares to seeing the costume being worn by the one it was intended for.
